Which transcription foot pedal do I need?
Using a transcription foot pedal can free up your hands for typing, while controlling the audio with your feet.
To use a foot pedal, you will need to be using specialised transcription software to play the audio files.
The transcription software that you are using will determine which foot pedals you can choose from.
· Working with Philips SpeechExec Transcripiton software or Philips SpeechLive ?
You will need a Phillips foot pedal – ACC2310, ACC2320 or ACC2330.
· Working with OM System ODMS R8 Transcription software or ODMS Cloud? (Olympus rebranded as OM System in 2024)
You will need an OM System foot pedal – RS-28N, RS-28H, RS-31N or RS-31H.
· Working with an older version of Olympus transcription software?
You should be upgrading to ODMS R8 or ODMS Cloud by now. If ODMS R7 is still working for you the Olympus RS-28H and RS-31H will work; however, they are no longer available to purchase, having been replaced by the RS-28N and RS-31N.
If you are working with the NCH Express Scribe Pro Transcription software – a very versatile transcription software which is useful if you are transcribing files from a range of sources, with different audio formats.
There are several pedals that will work with Express Scribe Pro Transcripiton software, but if you are using Windows, we recommend the Philips ACC2320.
· Working with some other Transcripiton Software?
We recommend checking with the software manufacturer to find out which currently available foot pedals are compatible.
